About the Owners
Healthy Roots Catering (HRC) is founded by two young female entrepreneurs who are dedicated to supplying children in schools and childcare facilities in the Niagara Region with wholesome homemade meals and snacks using nutrient-rich foods, with few ingredients and no additional sugar or sodium. HRC’s founders Jessi McCulloch and Rebecca Wood are passionate about providing our children, the future leaders of tomorrow, with high quality, “child-friendly” meals and snacks that are both appealing and in compliance with the guidelines and recommendations set out by the Ministry of Education (CCEYA), Canada’s Food Guide and the Ontario Dieticians in Public Health.
Our
Story
HRC is owned operated by two proprietors: Jessi McCulloch and Rebecca Wood. Jessi and Rebecca are Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) accredited teachers who have been working in the Montessori environment for a combined total of over 15 years; as a result, they are confident in knowing what children like to eat! Both Jessi and Rebecca strongly believe in the importance of serving children, the future leaders of tomorrow, wholesome, nutrient-rich foods that they will enjoy, in order to help them to reach their fullest potential.
Meet Jessi
Jessi is a mother and dedicated working professional with a rich knowledge of the food industry. She holds two college diplomas (including her MACTE Montessori Teachers Training in the Infant/Toddler Program) and has over 15 years of experience in the food and service sectors. Jessi’s strong managerial skills, combined with her knowledge of safe food practices, makes her an invaluable asset to the Healthy Roots Catering team. Additionally, Jessi has been an integral part of the Montessori school team for over two years, contributing significantly to its success with her practical knowledge and hands-on approach.
Meet Rebecca
Rebecca is a passionate entrepreneur who grew up on a family farm, fostering her deep-rooted understanding of agriculture and sustainability. With six years of post secondary education (including an honours double major, post graduate certificate and Montessori training), she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her ventures. Rebecca is the proud owner of a successful Montessori school, which has been thriving for over two years. Her 13 years of experience in the Montessori environment has equipped her with exceptional skills in early childhood education and business management.
